My friend, Dr. Steele asked me if I knew who took the first picture. He said he thought it looked like Igor Stravinsky was the subject. On the left is Osip Brik in a picture taken by Aleksandr Rodchenko; Stravinsky’s on the right.
Rodchenko’s image was the cover image for the magazine LEF in 1924. Brik was married to Lilya Brik, who is the person in this Rodchenko Image that loads of others have copied.
Update: I had wondered if this look was simply common at that time. Here is Hitchcock looking similar.
